The use of non woven fabric instead of plastic film covering for seedling cultivation is called non woven fabric seedling cultivation. The selection, preparation, bedding, and sowing of non woven fabric seedling cultivation are completely the same as ordinary dry seedling cultivation, soft disc seedling cultivation, or bowl disc seedling cultivation. However, non woven fabric is used instead of agricultural film insulation for seedling protection, and its seedling field management and seedling refining methods are different. The main technical process is to lay a plastic film on the bed surface after sowing, create a 20cm high soil ridge around the seedbed, and then cover it with non woven fabric to straighten and level it, so as to maintain a distance of 20cm between the non woven fabric and the bed surface. It can also be arched like a typical seedling nursery, covered with non woven fabric and tightly stretched. Due to the lightweight nature of non woven fabrics, windproof ropes are not required. Simply press the non woven fabric feet with soil and seal them tightly. After all the seedlings have emerged, remove the plastic film and cover the non woven fabric again until it is removed before transplanting.

Because the spunbond non woven fabric is breathable and permeable, there is no need for ventilation during the entire seedling cultivation process. Except for removing the lining film when the seedlings are green, there is no need to remove the non woven fabric. When the seedling bed is short of water, watering outside the non woven fabric can completely pour water onto the seedling bed and achieve the effect of watering and moistening the bed. In the early stage, the temperature inside the bed is lower than that covered with agricultural film, resulting in less water loss and less watering. In the early stage, the seedlings grew short and slowly, but in the later stage, when the external temperature increased, the seedlings grew faster, making it easy to cultivate robust seedlings. There was no occurrence of bacterial wilt or bacterial wilt in non woven fabric seedling cultivation. This method of insulation seedling cultivation is suitable for application on medium to late maturing varieties in the central and southern rice growing areas of Liaoning, or early to early maturing varieties in northern Liaoning. Its main advantages are:

(1) Due to the micropores in non woven fabrics, the temperature changes inside and outside the bed are gentle during the day and night, and the seedlings are cultivated under conditions close to natural temperature, resulting in stable, robust, and safe growth.

(2) No need for ventilation to refine seedlings, saving labor and trouble. In case of rainfall, rainwater can directly leak into the seedbed, reducing the frequency of watering and reducing labor intensity.

(3) No occurrence of bacterial wilt or bacterial wilt.

It is worth noting that: firstly, do not neglect necessary water replenishment just because there is no outbreak of bacterial wilt or bacterial wilt; The second option is to choose cloudy and rainy days or when the temperature drops in the afternoon and evening and there are no strong winds to prevent the seedlings from suddenly losing water.

When agricultural non woven fabrics are used for covering seedling cultivation, non woven fabrics specially used for rice seedling cultivation must be selected, that is, non woven fabrics specially used for seedling cultivation added with strengthening agents and anti-aging agents. The general non woven fabrics sold on the market cannot meet the requirements for rice seedling cultivation due to their thickness and strength. Therefore, it cannot be used as a cover material for rice seedling cultivation.
